It is typically set on late model Ford vehicles. Some issues that may cause the code to appear include a defective crankcase pressure sensor, electrical issues, and a defective PCV valve. Symptoms to look out for include poor fuel economy, gasket leaks, and an illuminated check engine light.
The 1.6 ECOboost basically replaced the old 2.0 Duratec. However despite the new technology it is still an old engine. The original Sigma engine was introduced in 1995 when fuel economy was not that important. Because of the old design the 1.6 ECOboost is not the most fuel efficient engine.
The start-stop will start working for a while until it learns that the battery isn't holding enough capacity to function again. The fix is to have a healthy battery fitted by Ford. The cure is to have an uprated AGM battery fitted. I suspect the stock EFB battery fitted to the mk4 was always under spec for the demand.
Your engine temperature sensor is responsible for relaying your engine temp to the ECU. Once the temp gets so hot, the ECU commands the radiator fan to come on. If your Focus has a bad engine temp sensor the radiator fan wonât know to come on, because the ECU wonât know how hot the engine is. Youâll need to locate and test the engine temp

I have had compression tests done and all showing good. Had a head inspection done and shows no significant wear.
She has experienced an intermittent problem where she has experienced a loss of power (turbo not working)and car goes into "limp" mode. A warning light appears with a sign indicating "engine needing service" If she stops and leaves the car for about an hour the car returns to normal operation.
Evening gents, was coming off a slip road Saturday evening car bogged and a hissing sound came from bonnet, completely lost all power from the turbo and keep getting intermittent flashing of the low oil pressure light.done and oil change yesterday, still getting a bit of a whooshing sound, low oi
The 1.0 ECOboost has a multistage cooling system with 2 thermostats. It is not uncommon for one of the thermostats to fail on a 1.0 ECOboost. A failed thermostat directly affects engine temperature and if the engine does not reach normal operating temperature it will also affect fuel economy. 1. Quote.
